Survival guide: How to survive a great mountain of dirty dishes
- Stay positive! Keep telling yourself: "Oooooh, its not that bad..."
- To motivate yourself - promise yourself a reward of some kind when you are done .
- Start with the part you find easiest and most fun to do; my suggestion - the plates. After a while the procedure usually becomes automatic and motoric and you can dream away.
- Put on some music or a good tv series; it might make you forget how gross old food remains really are. Just keep your wet fingers away from any electrical stuff.
- Buy detergent with a really bright and cheerful color and nice smell.
- Draw funny figures like happy smileys and rainbows with the detergent on plates and cutting-boards and such.
- If the heap smells a lot just squeeze some paper fluff up you nose and think of roses. But beware! Don't wander off too far when scrubbing the sharp stuff. Since your hands are in warm water you might not notice the blood flooding out of you.
- If the pile has evil-looking eyes; relax - it is just as scared of you as you are of it. Just grab the dish-brush and beat it until the light in those eyes has flickered out.
- If you find something at the bottom of the sink that looks really tasty - don't eat it unless you are willing to accept a little moocher in your intestinal canal.
- Buy yourself a treat afterwards. You deserve it!
